Take the challenge! EBEC (European BEST Engineering Competition) is the biggest European Engineering and Technology, Competition that is designed to develop creative thinking, problem-solving techniques and creativity in the participants while working as a team to solve the proposed problem in 24 hours.
It will take place from 4th to the 6th of March 2023, with a networking nsession on the first day.
Due to its big academic interest, this competition is ccredited by the University of Porto with 1,5 ECTS.
The competition is structured on two níveis: a ronda local e a ronda regional.levels: local round and regional round. The winners of EBEC Challenge Porto will move on to the next round and will have the opportunity to participate EBEC Challenge Iberia, which will take place in Madrid, in May.
In the Case Study category, the teams have the opportunity to analyze and solve two problems based on a real scenario. For this, the team can use several means of research and creativity, having to present a solution in 24 hours. These challenges range from technological to economic problems. In the end, the participants have to submit a report and deliver a presentation to a panel of judges that will evaluate their performances.
In the Innovative Design category (previously known as Team Design), the goal is to build a prototype, using limited materials, that responds adequately to the requirements of a previously presented problem. Thus, participants will have 24 hours to design an efficient solution based on their technical expertise and problem-solving and decision-making capabilities. The prototypes will then be evaluated by a jury based on parameters previously defined by the organization.
There are 51 local rounds in 33 countries.
The regional round will be organized in cooperation with the five Local Groups of BEST in Portugal and the two Local Groups of BEST in Spain. It will have the participation of 64 students, distributed in both categories, 8 of whom will represent FEUP and/or FCUP. It is scheduled to take place in Madrid from the 5th to the 8th of May.
There are 8 regional and national rounds.
During the competition, participants have the opportunity to participate in a networking session with several companies and present to them what they most seek and need in their companies.
BEST Porto also invites EBEC participants to submit their CVs to companies.
